Katherine Jenkins delays US album release for TV show

(South Wales Evening Post)

Katherine Jenkins has delayed her bid to crack the US music market to make way for her new TV show.

The 29-year-old made her debut as a talent show judge on ITV1’s Popstar to Operastar last Friday.

She said her role on the hit show meant putting back her album release across the pond. Believe – her seventh album – is set to be her first release for American fans.

She said: “The album release over there had to be organised for a time when I had completely finished with Popstar to Operastar. Although the show is on Friday nights, I also teach the contestants for two days each week. It means I’m here in the UK for quite an amount of time for the next six weeks.”

Believe – which is now set for an April release in the US – peaked at number six in the UK chart last October.

Popstar to Operastar is on Fridays at 9pm on ITV1.
